An Easy Gift Any Dog Mom Would LOVE to Receive

Happy Mother’s Day to all of the wonderful dog moms out there!

Do you have a special dog mom in your life? Here’s an easy gift to make that any dog mom would LOVE to receive.

Supplies:

-Paper (we use cardstock)

-Non-toxic, washable paints

-A damp washcloth to clean off your dog’s paws

-Paintbrushes

-Marker

Step 1: 

Once you have all your supplies ready, paint one of your dog’s paws with non-toxic, washable paint. Take it slow and give your dog plenty of treats and praise along the way. Not only will the positive reinforcement make this craft a fun experience for your dog, it will help you focus their attention so that you can make neat paw prints. We’ve found that some dogs prefer their paws to be painted with a paintbrush while others would rather we just dip their paw in paint on a paper plate. Experiment to see which works best for your dog. 

Step 2:

Gently press your dog’s painted paw onto the piece of paper. Each paw will be the blossom of a flower. Repeat as many times as flowers you’d like. Have multiple dogs? Include them all on one piece of paper! Have fun playing with different colors. When you’re finished, grab your handy damp washcloth to wipe off your dog’s paws before they decorate your floor too.

Step 3:

Use green paint to paint stems and leaves on the flowers and grass on the ground. Let dry.

Step 4:

Once dry, write a message to mom with marker. We like writing “Happy Mother’s Day” on the top of the sheet and a heart and the dog’s name by their flowers.

You’re all done, that was easy, wasn’t it? Now for the best part, giving the gift to mom! Consider framing the painting so that mom can hang it right up on the wall. Make sure to wish her a Happy Mother’s Day from Cold Nose Lodge.
